Pattern Drafting

The Pattern House is here to help designers realize their ideas from simple sketches, photos and/or inspirational garments. We can create active wear, ready-to-wear, sportswear and other soft goods such as dog clothes and more! Our team will work closely with the head designer to create original patterns that meet industry standards and bring your creation to life. If you have already created your own sample patterns, then send us your first patterns, pattern card, sew-by sample and garment specifications and we will move one to the next step, grading. Don’t have a sample sewn yet? We can do that too!

Sample Sewing

Sample sewing is a key step in the product development process. Samples are made for each style in order to work out all the design details and achieve the perfect fit. Samples are usually made in a size SMALL (6) or MEDIUM (8) and designed to fit your company’s fit model. The patterns are then graded down for smaller sizes and graded up for larger sizes. If your company is designing clothing for plus size then the sample size may be a 2X (12), then the patterns will be graded down for smaller sizes and graded up for larger sizes.

Samples are important to make, not just to achieve the desired fit but also to figure out the best stitches needed to assemble the product and any finishes.

Grading

In simple words, pattern grading is the process of increasing or decreasing the pattern sizes from the master pattern (base size or sample size patterns) using a size specification sheet or grading increments.

The measurement of different sizes of garments varies from one size to another in terms of length and width. Therefore, you need to cut different patterns of garment components to fit the body of different sizes. The grading process solves this problem.

Marker Making

The Pattern House LLC will make your markers for cutting services. We can send files directly to your head designer or directly to your cutting and sewing contractor. The marker lays out the pattern pieces in the most efficient way in order to minimize fabric waste.
